Generative AI and AI-Based Technology
This policy provides guidance on the responsible use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-based technologies in scholarly publishing. ATTARBAWIY: Malaysian Online Journal of Education supports the ethical use of AI while maintaining research integrity, transparency, confidentiality, and human responsibility.
For Authors
Use of AI in Academic Writing

AI may be used only to improve language, grammar, readability, and manuscript organization.

Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscript.

All AI-generated content must be carefully checked and verified by the authors.

Any significant use of AI must be disclosed in the manuscript.

AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors.
Use of AI in Images

AI-generated or AI-edited images are not allowed if they change or misrepresent research findings.

Minor image adjustments (e.g., brightness or contrast) are acceptable if they do not affect the original information.

If AI is used as part of the research method, it must be clearly described in the Methods section.
For Reviewers
Confidentiality

Manuscripts and review reports are confidential.

Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or review reports to AI tools.
Use of AI

AI must not be used to review or evaluate manuscripts.

Reviewers are fully responsible for their review comments and recommendations.
For Editors and Journal Management
Confidentiality

Editors must keep manuscripts, reviewer reports, and editorial communications confidential.

Confidential documents must not be uploaded to AI tools.
Use of AI

AI may be used only for administrative or language support.

AI must not be used to make editorial or publication decisions.

Editors and journal management are fully responsible for all editorial decisions.
Statement
ATTARBAWIY: Malaysian Online Journal of Education encourages the responsible use of AI to support scholarly publishing while ensuring transparency, confidentiality, research integrity, and human oversight throughout the publication process.
