Abstract

This study was conducted to find out about the perceptions of students of Universiti Teknologi MARA Alor Gajah Melaka Campus on the open and distance learning mode (ODL) of communication Arabic subjects conducted in the Covid-19 pandemic situation. This study was conducted on 150 Diploma students who took Arabic as a third language. This study is quantitative by using descriptive survey method to obtain the mean value. To find out the students' perceptions about ODL, a set of questionnaires was used which was adapted from previous studies. The data were then analyzed using IBM Statistical Package of Social Science 26 (SPSS 26) software. There are four aspects studied in this study. The results of the study found that the three aspects studied in this study are at a high level, namely the content of online learning mean obtained 3.67, while the aspect of online interaction mean obtained 3.74 and the aspect of lecturer feedback mean obtained is 3.84. While for the aspect of ease of accessing online learning applications, the mean obtained is at a moderate level of 2.75. As such, this online learning will be effective if it can be implemented more perfectly. Apart from that, the commitment of the lecturers and students is also very important by taking into account the internet access gap to ensure that every teaching and learning activity can be carried out smoothly.

ABSTRAK

Kajian ini dibuat adalah untuk mengetahui tentang persepsi pelajar Universiti Teknologi MARA Kampus Alor Gajah Melaka terhadap mod pembelajaran terbuka dan jarak jauh (ODL) subjek bahasa Arab komunikasi yang dijalankan dalam situasi pandemik Covid-19. Kajian ini telah dilakukan ke atas 150 orang pelajar Diploma yang mengambil subjek bahasa Arab komunikasi sebagai bahasa ketiga. Kajian ini berbentuk kuantitatif dengan menggunakan kaedah tinjauan deskriptif untuk mendapatkan nilai min. Bagi mengetahu persepsi pelajar tentang ODL ini satu set borang soal selidik telah digunakan yang telah diadaptasi dari kajian lepas. Data kemudiannnya dianalisis menggunakan perisian IBM Statistical Package of Social Science 26 (SPSS 26). Terdapat empat aspek yang dikaji dalam kajian ini. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa tiga aspek yang dikaji di dalam kajian ini berada pada tahap tinggi iaitu kandungan pembelajaran atas talian min yang diperolehi 3.67, manakala aspek interaksi atas talian min yang diperoleh 3.74 dan aspek maklum balas pensyarah min yang diperolehi ialah 3.84. Manakala bagi aspek kemudahan mengakses aplikasi pembelajaran atas talian min yang diperoleh pada tahap sederhana iaitu 2.75. Oleh hal yang demikian, pembelajaran secara atas talian ini akan berkesan jika dapat dilaksanakan dengan lebih sempurna. Selain itu juga komitmen para pensyarah dan para pelajar juga amat penting dengan mengambil kira jurang capaian internet bagi memastikan setiap aktiviti pengajaran dan pembelajaran dapat dijalankan dengan lancar.
